6 WAYS TO BECOME A HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE PERSON

6 WAYS TO BECOME A HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE PERSON .001.jpeg

On a scale 0-10, how productive are you when it comes to all your current personal and work responsibilities?  Zero is not productive at all and a ten would be highly productive.

If you rated yourself a 5/10 or higher, how are you measuring your productivity?

I ask these two questions for three reasons: 1) I want you to be productive with all your endeavors, 2) All productivity should be measurable, and 3) Lastly, true productivity will bring about success in your life.

There is no reason for you to feel ineffective with any life responsibilities.  Neuropsychologist Theo Tsaousides discusses several habits of ineffective people in 7 Habits of Highly Ineffective People.  He describes these 7 habits of ineffective people being the following:

1 - They doubt they have what it takes.

2 - They wait too long to get started.

3 - They lose their patience faster.

4 - They multitask shamelessly.

5 - They want change without having to change.

6 - They strive for perfection.

7 - They complain a lot.

With that said, I want you to be more productive and successful.  Productivity is defined by one’s ability to generate, create, enhance, or bring forth goods and services.  Being productive means a person starts to take control of their time days, their desired outcomes, and their successes.

So along with knowing the 7 habits of ineffective people, I also want to share with you 6 ways to increase you productivity.

1.    Track your time.

It is hard to measure productivity without any objective information.  Keeping track of your time spent on a specific task will allow you to easily determine how efficient and productive you are being with your time.

2.    Take breaks.

There are some that are against taking breaks, but we all need time to reprogram or reboot.  Otherwise, we will find ourselves burnt out.

3.    Set deadlines.

Deadlines are like budgets for your time.  Just as budgets can help keep you out of debt, deadlines help to keep you productive with your time.

4.    Avoid wasteful meetings.

We have all been in meetings that we thought was a waste of time.  If you are in charge of calling such meetings, please avoid wasting your time and others time by hosting wasteful meetings.  If you plan to set a meeting, be very purposeful about your focus and time constraints of the meeting.

5.    Stop multi-tasking.

I understand that there are times when multi-tasking is required.  However, to multi-task with your high priority tasks is to compromise your productivity, which decreases your focus and success with those tasks.

6.    Give up perfection.

Many times perfection kills the completion of any action.  Perfection is only an illusion.  When I think of perfection, I picture a hamster in wheel running nowhere.  Seeking perfection is running in a wheel without any progress or productivity.  Stop seeking perfection and do something, then make corrections.

There is no reason for you to be ineffective.  You can become a highly productive person bringing unimaginable success.  How you planning on being more productive after reading this blog?  We want to hear from you.  Please leave a comment below or send me an email.
