ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

“Logic will not change an emotion, but action will.” - Zig Ziglar

We are all familiar with the phrase, “Actions speak louder than words.”  I believe we all agree with this statement, but do we live by these words?

Trust me, I know how powerful words can be.  Words can motivate, inspire, encourage, etc.  However, actions are more powerful than words.  We should choose our words carefully, but should be even more careful about how we live.

I was always taught by my parents, “A life lived is better than any word spoken.”  I learned quickly that what I say must align up with how I live.

If your words and actions don’t align, you will be viewed as a hypocrite, faker, fraud, pretender, deceiver, bluffer, or a phony.  As a leader, you never want to wear any of these titles.  So how do we avoid these labels?

We must let our actions speak louder than our words.

Again, this doesn’t mean we are careless with our words, but it means we are just as careful with our actions as we are with our words.  A great quote regarding our actions comes from James 1:22,

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Whether it is personal or professional, as leaders we should be about action!  Its all about what we do!  We don’t wait for others to do what we know needs to be done.  We don’t make excuses for why something doesn’t happen.  We don’t blame others for our shortcomings.  As leaders, we DO!

I don’t know what you need to DO, but after you read this blog I need for you to get it done.  You can dream about it, talk about it, write it down, and even develop plans of getting whatever it is you need to get done.  At the end of the day, you need to put forth some form of action to get it done.

What in your life needs immediate action?  Wait no longer.  Whether you feel you are ready or not, it is time to start.  Let your actions speak louder than your words.  Please share your thoughts by leaving a comment below, sending me a tweet on Twitter, or by leaving a comment on Facebook.
