Leadership is simple, but it can also get a little complicated because you are leading people.  For this reason, no-nonsense leadership is a polarizing topic.  It will create discomfort and inspiration at the same time.

Leadership is about showing people you care, but also taking care of your business at the same time.  So I have come up with a few no-nonsense tips to empower your leadership.

Tip #1 - Stop talking.

Most leaders are great communicators, but sometimes it’s best for leaders to stop talking so much and listen.  Listening is critical to effective communication.  You will be more effective with your leadership if you will practice less talking and more listening.

Tip #2 - Say no.

We all would like to believe that we can do all things, but the truth of the matter is that we have limitations as humans.  This is why we have to learn to say no to something’s because there is no way possible for you to do everything.

Tip #3 - Walk the walk.

Great leaders lead by example before requesting anyone else to do anything.  Not only do they talk the talk, but they also walk the walk.

Tip #4 - Don’t gossip.

As leaders, we are constantly building credibility.  There is no reason to talk about any one on your team.  As leaders, our job is to see the best in others and help them develop themselves.

Tip #5 - Get help.

Great leaders understand that they cannot achieve greatness by themselves.  So in you attempt to get help, don’t try to surround yourself with people that are just like you or people that will tell you what you want to hear.  Instead surround yourself with people that are versatile and that compliment you.  Position people around you that support and believe in you and your calling and vision.

Empower your leadership by practicing these 5 no-nonsense tips.  Some of these decisions will be difficult to make, but as a leader you will be responsible for making these decisions.
