Achievements do not happen haphazardly. Accomplishments are a result of successful habits. As we are getting ready to start a new year, I want you to be positioned for your best year ever.
Every research study I have seen revealed that at least 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by February. This means only 10-20% of New Year’s resolutions are actually fulfilled. I do not want you to be part of the 80%.
So here are four successful habits to make your 2019 better than your 2018.
We all have had mishaps, misfortunes, and disappointments. However, the key is to learn and grow from it all. The only way to do that is by reflecting. Reflection is careful consideration of something. If you are going to be the very best version of yourself in 2019, you will need to carefully consider and learn from the good and bad of 2018. To do this you will need to make time for reflection. When is the best time for you reflect? Also, what is one thing you would do differently in 2019 to make this coming up year better than 2018?
Believe it or not, Americans are reading less. There isn’t much data explaining the reasoning behind this phenomenon. Whatever the reason may be, the fact still stands that reading continues to become less popular. Reading is so important because it develops the mind. As a leader, you should be reading everyday, possibly a new book weekly or biweekly. How many books do you plan to read in 2019? Better yet, when are you going to set aside the time to read in 2019?
One of the most successful habits you can practice to make your 2019 a great year is setting goals. There five essential components to setting a goal: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound. When you are making SMART goals, you are intentionally giving yourself a map or plan to best achieve your goal. All five of these components are critical to turning your goal from an on-paper desire to a successful reality. What are your top three goals for 2019?
One more critical successful habit to make your 2019 the best year ever is responding with action. There are many people that set goals, but never put any action behind their goal setting. Take your life to another level by having action behind your plans and strategies. What actions do you need to take in 2019 to make your life better?

So give yourself the best. It may be uncomfortable, but remember that all good things take time, effort, and discipline. You have the power to make your 2019 the best year ever.
