As Americans, we are consumed with performing these activities multiple times a day, if not multiple times an hour.  Sometimes we are so connected with our technology that we forget the importance of human interaction.

Last week I had a life-changing experience.  A few of my friends and I charted out to serve on a Medical Mission Trip in Haiti.  I learned many life lessons while I was in Haiti.  I thought I saw what poverty looked like in Honduras, but I really saw the likes of poverty while I spent time in Haiti.

So today, I would like to share just a few thoughts that touched my heart.

1.    Stop and reflect.

There is always something special about getting away from your routine busyness and chaos in order to find purposeful living with your business and personal life.

2.    See people.

How many times have you been in a crowd of people, but you were focused on sending a text, calling a friend, or checking emails on your phone?  When we are consistently connected to all our technological advancements, being preoccupied with these things makes it hard for us to see and connect with people.

There are many other lessons I learned, which I will share later.  Please understand that I don’t think you have to go to Haiti to learn these lessons.  However, I am saying that you should take time to disconnect with where you are in order to discover a meaningful life personally and professionally.  What do you need to disconnect from?  How do you plan on disconnecting from these things?

Thank you for reading this article.  Please leave a comment below or email me directly to share your thoughts.
