Do You Have a Teachable Spirit?

One question we must ask ourselves daily is, “Are we teachable?”

Everyone is an expert in some area of his or her life.  In the world we live in, rarely do people volunteer to receive advice.  I understand feeling this way when the information shared lacks constructiveness.

But I’ve found many people just don’t want to hear anything from anyone, whether it is constructive or not.  Whether it is raising kids or building a business, we all need some form of constructive feedback.

When was the last time you received constructive feedback?  How did you respond to it?

The key to success has nothing to do with knowing everything, but it is surrounding yourself with people and resources that will help promote the areas where you are weak.

In our Wednesday meditation, there are two scriptures that will help us with developing a teachable spirit.  A teachable spirit will take you places you have never been and allow you to shine bright.  Keep your mind open and allow these words to build your life and leadership.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - His good, pleasing, and perfect will. - Romans 12:2

This verse speaks to heart of every human.  We should be eager for change in our lives.  Transformation is the key to any success.  When you are willing to change, you place yourself in a position to be teachable.  And when you are teachable, you will excel because God will give you fresh ideas, new perspective, and creative success.

Just remember God knows all!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11

His plans are much greater than our plans.  My mom would always tell me, “When you are trying to figure it out, He has already worked it out.”

What are you trying to figure out?

Maybe the only thing limiting your success is your need for a teachable spirit.

Question: Do you have a teachable spirit?  If so, how has it helped you in your life?  If not, what is stopping you from being teachable?  Leave your comments below.
